My front brakes grab just as if the front discs are warped...I clean them but then the grabbing always returns...if its the discs, what discs are recommeneded as replacement? (not made in Chania)...

But if its not the disc then what's the cure?

(from Wikepedia: "Often uneven pad transfer is confused for disc warping. In reality, the majority of brake discs which are diagnosed as "warped" are actually simply the product of uneven transfer of pad material...Uneven pad transfer will often lead to a thickness variation of the disc. When the thicker section of the disc passes between the pads, the pads will move apart and the brake pedal will raise slightly; this is pedal pulsation. The thickness variation can be felt by the driver when it is approximately 0.17 mm or greater (on automobile discs)....This type of thickness variation has many causes, but there are three primary mechanisms which......"

I've just had one of my discs replaced.

The shop didn't seem to think that the disc was warped but rather that the disc had an inconsistant surface "hardness" or possibly an inconsistant texture. He basicaly said that different sections of the disc had a different level of friction when in contact with the pads under heavy breaking creating a pulsing. Haven't had any issues with it so far but haven't really tested them out yet.

Time will tell.
