wouldnt advise using wd40 on your discs and then relying on the heat of use to burn it off as by then it has contaminated your disc pads and its a brake strip and pad friction surface clean with emery tape if your lucky or new pads if your not .if your really unlucky its a long stay in hospital or a body bag .. it would be fuggin suicidal to wd40 your discs and use the scoot even slowly and assume that it will burn off . wd40 is a type of penitrating oil and WILL be absorbed by your brake pads . if you want to clean the marks off your discs use some fine wire wool and it will wipe off nice and easy . freestyler is right in saying if it gets to bad and causes pitting on the discs that this is bad , but cleaning them more frequently while a pain the arse is better than an ambulance ride .
my advice as a mechanic of over 17 years is dont do it .
your call , this forum is dependant on people helping each other out so no offence to freestyler .

take it easy

Just a thought....how about popping small bags around the discs when you know you're not gonna use for a while and drop in a couple of silica gel bags in to absorb any moisture.

A quick rub over the discs with a scotch-brite pad will fix them right up...and won't leave an oily residue to contaminate your pads

Most electric circuit cleaners contain a small amount of oil/grease. Dont use this on your brake discs. If you want to use some spray cleaner, then use normal brake cleaner spray.

I guess the rough kitchen sponge is the best way to clean up the discs....
