Fuel Pump Modifications

That is strange. The tank has 15L capacity and I have never been able to get more than 10L in when filling up after riding with the fuel light on for 30KMs or so. I expected that lowering the sensor with some 15mm would give at least 1 litre more normal range.

Damn... I had my hopes on this one...

Then the only option left is to fit the new 2007 tank with 4L more capacity...

The interesting thing about the whole tank thing is not the bottom two compartments - its the angle that the bottom part of the tank sits on.... I expect that this angle is the source of the fuel issues.

I hope to work around that by this flexible tube with the weight which should go to the lowest part where fuel is.... the trick is to test it out. Hmmm now how do I do that... I need to ride around till I run out of juice! That means I need to ride around with a jerry can in my backpack.....well I will think about that for a little while - but I will prob surcumb to the temptation of knowing.

Regarding a bigger tank... I am not sure who... but a 'plastic welder' could increase the fuel tank: you have heaps of space at the above the airbox that could be used as an increased fuel tank. Anyway - that is my 2 cents worth on that matter.

Me too, ignore the fuel light and work on 100 mile tank range. I've never run out of fuel using this method, no matter how hard I ride or how early the light comes on which can be as soon as 55 miles!

Sorry for going a bit off-topic here, but the fact is, i´ve dropped a 10 euro note into the fuel tank! Yep, i shit you not! The bastard sank right to the bottom fast, never to be seen again!
I´m gessing it won´t make much difference, or will it? Can the lil fecker block something?...

It's a bit early for April 1st isn't it? Can we get chrismas over first.

Yep, i know it sounds silly, but in this case it´s the honest to goodness truth!
I can now put 28 euros worth into my SD´s gas tank (95 RON gasoline here costs around 1.2 euros)

To Gregz:

I was looking at the pictures of your modified fuel pump again and I wonder how the second fuel-line to the side of the tank works. If the standard fuel intake sucks air, how will the pump get fuel from the second line?

I thinking about doing the sensor mod today too.

OK, two tank refills on now. I'm completely puzzled. I've lowered the sensor 11-12mm and nothing seems to have changed. The fuel light still comes on after only 9 liters...
