Fuel Tank ran dry !

Lee

Was out the other day and I ran out of fuel.

Symptoms were the bike "coughed" a couple of times, then stopped, I pulled over shook the bike from side to side to try and free up some fuel but once it stops that's pretty much it.

Refilled from a 5 Litre can and when I got to a fuel pump, about a mile away (1.6km) I put another 10 litres in, so the capacity is pretty much 15L as in the manual.

The bike restarted 1st time no prob's

I always use trip 2 to measure distances between fuel stops, when I fill up I fill the tank with the bike level, still sat on it, and stop as the fuel just goes up inside the fill hole tube, then I let the fuel dispenser drain of fuel and that's it.

This trip meter read 95.8 miles (x 1.609 = 154.14 km)

That's 6.38 miles/Litre or 10.27km/L

About 28 miles/Imp Gallon.

I was riding hard though, and 2 up, across Hampshire and Berkshire's twisty A-roads

Same here about consumption. Though nowadaysI tend to squize the throtle more so I have run out o gas at 128 km.

But. If you leave the bike to cool down a bit for 10 minutes you can start again and go for nearly a mile if you are gently on the throtle.

Hi, I think you only get the last bit of fuel if you are using the power, as the fuel is then forced backward toward the fuel pump/tap,,, and on the same subject, I got 82 miles before the fuel light came on the other day, is this a record?...Superduke is a bit thirsty though, my old R1 was a lot better on fuel
