I placed a telferizer in the tank bolt position. Quite happy with the set up.

I have a Telferizer too, but mounted it in place one of the handlebar bolts. It keeps it central and far enough forward so that it doesn't interfere with the KTM tank bag and can be seen easily when riding. Pix of my 05 bike in the gallery - now have the same setup on the SDR.

On later bikes you can pick up a power supply in the headlamp cowl easily enough.

Tank and bar mounts are, tank - M8 x 55 and bars - M8 x 40

My 2p worth...

You can get longer mount arms but they flex and vibrate more the longer they are. With the KTM tankbag and the standard mount arm you will not be able to mount, let alone see, the Zumo if you use the tank bolt option, unless you specify a very long shaft between the threads and the RAM mount (and that'd look site IMO).

Anything but the standard wing nut will mean it's harder to remove the thing from your bike when you leave it unattended. Chances are that thieving scum will be less careful than you and just lever and snap it off to steal it.

The best bet is to use the wing nut arrangement (or something that can be unclipped easily) and a 12V plug and socket so you can unplug it and keep it on you when the bike is parked up.
