Graphite seal done but...

now it runs like crap.

I was experiencing bad surging off the throttle before I put the new seal in and fuel economy was even worse than usual. (85 miles to a tank) Thought it would be a good idea to do a 15 minute reset but after it seemed even worse. Fuelling is really 'fluffy' on any part throttle openings and particularly below 3k but business as usual for WOT. Then I'm riding home and the fuel light comes on at 42 miles! Must be running really rich.

Are there any specific instructions regarding the 15 min idle? It's worked for me in the past.

unsure bout the 05, but my 07 fuel light comes on way too early, i can get another 50-60km's from the tank. Think there is a thread about the fuel sensor on here somewhere. Search is your friend for that one.

Also your 15min idle reset steps are around here somewhere, but I put mine on a rear wheel stand. start it, dont touch throttle or anything, leave for about 15-18mins. shut it off at the key. then restart a little later (bout 10mins) all good. This has cleared O2 sensors errors for me in the past.

I'm used to the fuel light woes but it normally comes on at 70 miles and can be run until 110 miles.

Not sure if it's just me but the search settings seemed to have changed since the forum layout changed.

I remember reading somewhere that it should be 15 mins and no longer. I did 15mins and about 5 secs. I'll probably try it again later today.

Did another 15 min idle today and it hasn't helped. Actually did over 16 mins and let it stand after for nearly another 15 mins. I'm still experiencing surging off the throttle as well mainly whilst the revs drop from 4k to 3k.

I had the battery out for a few days a couple of weeks ago but this shouldn't affect the map on the ECU, should it?

After the 15 min reset its always good to run the bike for around 50miles and things will return to normal

The 15min reset can be done on sidestand or paddock stand, the tank must have enough fuel so the fuel light doesnt come on during the reset! simply start the bike, dont touch anything (throttle or electricals) allow to run for 15mins then shut off - job done

Another way to check,

if you have a ktm dealer nearby or another motorbike shop, get it plugged in to read the alert codes coming off it. It records them and stores them

this will assist in the reasons why its surging. they could also do a proper reset.

surging could also be from fuel or spark not 100%, O2 sensors up the clacker...

tuneECU allows you to read error codes, the info for these codes can be found in the workshop manual

Yeah I did think about getting it plugged in at the stealer. Hopefully they'll do a quick check for free.

I've been reading about TuneECU the last few days. Still trying to get my head around it but it looks interesting.
