I only use my clutch from a stop in 1st to accelerate, the rest of my upshifts are clutchless and smooth. Most of the time on decel down through the gears I use the clutch with some blurping. These trannys are designed to be shifted up or down without the clutch, you just have to make sure your doing it right. I noticed with the SD that I have to pre-load the shifter when shifting hard and clutchless. Once I got the feel for it compared to my Jap bikes, it's actually better.

At the track I do clutchless upshifts all the time. I don't run into many situations on the street where I feel the need to do it or want to risk the occasional screw up I'll make when doing it. When done right it certainly feels smooth enough but I can't speak for the damage it may do.

weeksy, it is true what Martin (trackadict), says, really depends directly on your track and abilities,

the reason I make such a claim is most? of the AMA dudes run electric shifters, it does cut down on time to clutch shift.

think of it like this,,, hey lady why are you making yer face while driving??? she says well, it does not distract me,

then she finally gets her lipstick on while fumbling the cell phone, runs a red light and kills a dog, she might say it was the dogs fault,

but any distraction at all will scrub nano seconds from yer time, less distraction takes less time, I know it is a strange anyalgy but so true.

denial, (not a river in Egypt.) is always used as a defense when the truth is plain to see.

I use the clutch on the street cos I am hardwired this way, i use the clutch on the track cos I do not have an electric shifters like the big dogs.

with a upside down styled GP shifter, 1 up 5 down. see...
