Has anyone tried this?

Im not sure that I've read anywhere on here about guys removing the inner tank shrouds from their bikes to improve the airflow under the tank and to the airbox. I pulled mine last week, here are some pics.

It would have to improve airflow IMO for the standard and aftermarket airboxes, with them in there's like a tiny 10mm gap between the frame and the tank to pull any air in from the front of the bike. The only thing is that it is not as "pretty" if you look inside the tank shrouds and you are left with 3 instead of 4 bolts holding the shroud on.
When I rode with it like this last weekend I tried to see if the shrouds moved at all with speed but they remained as is so I think I'll leave it for now and see how it goes.
I guess the ultimate would be to modify these inner shrouds to have scoops in them to guide the air in but retain the top bolt that holds the shrouds on.
Has anyone tried this before and what did they think?

Take off the shrouds then look at the rear of the radiator from behind the fuel tank extension/radiator end covers and it then looks like the removal of the shrouds simply lets the incoming air flow dump past the radiator and fuel tank. With that in mind and with the shrouds back in place, it looks like the shrouds direct the air towards the air box and snorkel.

My intention is not to create a heated debate on pressurized air box designs, (that have been proven to add HP + efficiency).

Forcing air into an internal combustion gas engine is the wave of the future, turbo charged and supercharged engines are proven to be more fuel efficient.

we have not utilized the technology available as a society yet, it is sure to come soon though? This was the only point that I was trying to make.

have usually in the past put my forks up through the yokes in my bikes whether they be road bikes or mx bikes as I usually prefer increased turning over stability---------while I so far have not felt the need in the duke , has anyone tried it??

Nope, don't see the need when they are already like a 250 prodie bike, but was thinking of doing it for my next drag meeting to see if i can drop my times again.

I don't see the harm in trying - after all if it doesn't work you just change it back.

But I don't see the need - the bike turns in so quickly you risk making it a shopping trolley!
