Heated Grips, Handguards & Screen ?

Just collected the SD and have some questions for you experienced SD owners.

I will be using the SD throughout the winter so I need a bit more protection from our Scottish weather !

I have already had the KTM Heated Grips fitted, put them on today for the first time and they don't seem particularly hot, am I expecting too much or has anyone got these and find the same problem? I don't have the instructions (do I need them!!) and the switch goes from OFF to START to ON but I can't see what the difference is ??

Next, again to keep the rain and crap off, I want to fit a bigger screen and handguards, so any recommendations for the best ones for the SD ?

A little ago fitted the Adventure 950(990) handguards.

A piece of cake to install and a perfect fit...

Perfect for cold and rainy winter days!

I've just fitted my oxford ones tonight bud, the nichts ur fair drawin' in.

Have a wee search bud, there was a post somewhere about there being issues with not connecting them properly.
Something to do with not being able to draw full voltage/current/watts/chinchilla farts through if not connected straight to a decent earth or sumat.
Hoping that I won't need to refit me trained badgers for a good wee while yet.
Vrooom!!!

Off Start Run is the right order. Start is meant to get the grips up to temp quickly and run keeps 'em there without using too much battery power. I'll be fitting my old Daytonas at weekend for another Scottish autumn. Om my last bike, I wired them straight to the battery and then used a relay to only keep them on whilst the engine was running. Means you get max oomph without the danger of flattening the battery.

Hey Mamba

I've bought the Adventure handguards. The left one fits no problem, but how did you get the right one on? I can't get it on over the brake lever. It's fouling at both ends of the lever. I thought that it looked silly with just one - so I took that off as well. We're getting heavy frost in the mornings now and a bit off extra protection would help!! Any chance of posting a picture or two?

Thanks

Tony

Ok the massive (eh!) touring screen is now on along with the handguards and they do make a difference, especially the handguards. The rain is kept off the gloves a lot more and the wind chill also, it was down to freezing last week and with the heated grips it was easy !!
