HEEEELP!!! REG/REC fooked???

Hey guys came back from a spin Saturday on the 'duke and when i turnrd her off got this weird high pitched kind of squeal/beep and this funny burning sort of a smell. After smelling around it seems to be coming from the battery area? Could the reg/rec have fried the battery? Is it common? Noticed the battery was getting a bit weaker lately but was just putting it down to the cold weather. fookin raging, brand new Z8's and all waiting to fit and its dry outside

That def sounds like the RR to me. Mine went but didn't show those symptoms. A m8s 950 SMR went and displayed exactly the same symptoms. You might find your battery is cooked

Ya Corporal she seems to have fried the battery as well the fooker. Aanyone have a contact for one for sale? Off work today and all thought i'd get out for a blast on me new tyres

when i was removing the battery (which i also replaced at the same time...) there was a broken lead, just the ring part attached to the neg terminal of the battery.
i followed it back to... wait for it... the reg/rec. replaced it anyway because it would have gone soon enough anyway.

That happened to me with the broken terminal.

I think the reg rec is dead now with nearly 60,000km on the clock.

Only pumping out 11.7v when running.

I have a spare OE reg/rec that (I think) is OK if you need one in a hurry.
