Markey
Hey guys-
I'm not very handy with anything mechanical. Unfortunately I wasn't blessed with that part of my brain firing on all cylinders. Tasks that take most people 20 minuntes take me several hours. Often because I do it wrong, then do it wrong again, then realise I need a tool that I don't have, leave to get it, come back, etc.
Anyway- I'm installing the Remus Linkage pipe (Cat eliminator) and Remus slip on to my 1290. I lined the pipe up the best that I could, but the linkage pipe didn't sit quite flush with the head pipe. There are gaps between the rims of the two pipes, and get better or worse depending on how I rotate the pipe. Same story when I slipped the can on to the other end of the midpipe. I reattached the clamps and fastener brackets on both end of the midpipe (from header to mid pipe, and from mid pipe to can), started her up, and put my hands near the connections. There is DEFINITELY gas escaping at both connection points. In fact, I could see gas escaping (its cold here). Is this a problem? I included a pic of each clampthat has the gap circled. Do I need to re-do this?
Any insight appreciated. Unfortunately, I don't have any friends who wrench who could help me out in person.
