On my 08 SDR with all the mods done I have noticed a potentially dangerous problem. After riding hard through the canyons the other day, I( came to a stop and the engine would not settle don to it's normal idle speed but stayed up between 3-4,000 RPM. I continued to ride but as I slowed and downshifted for slower corners, the engine speed stayed up almost feeling like it was continuing to accelerate. In order to negotiate the corner, I was having to apply the front brake which causes the bike to stand up and run to the outside of the turn if done unexpectedly. This was not fun.
I stopped and shut the engine off for a few moments and things returned to normal for a while. This condition occurred a couple of times in the past before the air box, smog and other mods but seems to have returned. Andre at three Bros says it has something to do with the brain (motorcycles...not mine) and by shutting it down for a minute it goes away. I've never heard of such a ridiculous problem in my life. Any thoughts on this? I've rulled out a hormone problem.
