Bought this one:

I don't like tank bags, they're preventing me from moving around so expected the US10 to be to big. But the US5 is a bit small, so gave the US10 a shot and it worked great Can even open the gas cap without releasing anything (it is supplied with quick release buckles). And it's in the perfect position:

I used the straps intended for the front at the rear and for the front I used a plain strap I had laying around and thread it just behind the head stock. It's just clear of the bar at full steering lock. The back side of the tank bag converter is rubberized and is so sticky you can hardly slide it on the tank even when not trapped.

I think I will just leave the bag on and release the entire unit. fastening it takes about as much time as a bagster tank bag So very happy, will have a test ride soon.

I needed to sort something out to take my shoes and a pair of trousers to work without having to carry it all on my back with my laptop and other work stuff so after reading this I figured I could probably get away with a US20 albeit covering the petrol cap.

I was keen to use the kriega system as I have other kriega stuff so it will be useful to be able to swap them around depending what storage I need.

I swapped the straps round but the std SD doesn't have the same point for fixing as your SDR so I put the straps around the tube at the rear of the tank that the shock joins to which left an almost exact length to reach the buckles. I didn't have any spare webbing so fed the other two straps through the buckles and crossed the long fluffy velcro ends under the headstock and joined them to the opposite strap with the hook part of the velcro on it, once both were in place I could pull them in a bit tighter one side at a time, not the easiest thing to put into words that last bit so hopefully you get the picture.

In the long run though I'll probably replace with some other webbing and maybe a buckle so I can just pop it off if I want to and hopefully the other straps will fit under the seat ok as would be a bit of a pain to remove.

The yolk touches the straps a little and the bag but only on full lock.

The only thing that is annoying is that both ends of the securing strap have male buckles so after taking the bag off you can't join the strap together and have to feed it back though the mounting loops and remove it if you don't have the bag on but I shall remedy this by feeding a female buckle of the same size on before the male one so once the bag is removed I can just join them up, that way I won't have to remove the straps or the mounting pad and can just click the bag on and off nice and simple.

I've got some pics I'll post up in a bit so people can see how it looks with the 20.

Here we go

Full side view

Image

Close up with bars turned so you can see the strapping

Image

Front view, not too shabby

Image

Back view, reckon a carbon tank protector will camouflage those straps a bit or as I said to the other half, I'm going to have to buy something to put round the tank so the straps don't damage the paint when I'm rubbing against them

Image

And last of all, the riders point of view

Many thanks to Pingvin for the idea.

Looks good. I have the the Ktm tank bag. but it's only good for the long haul. I will have to order some of these. Btw, where did you order that touring wind screen from? I like that one better than the stock Ktm touring screen.

I also had the Kriega tank pad connected to a US-10 for my recent importing trip. Though with all the other Kriega bags and packs it pretty muched looked like a bit too much for the poor bike...

The reason why I couldn't fix the tank bag closer to the bar, except that my packing was a bit unskilled in general, is the navigation system I connected with a RAM to the tank bolt. Will definitely try to optimize things for the next packed ride to also gain access to the tank opening. Maybe just the 5l Kriega is enough for the front, if I get the rear bags sorted a bit more tidy...
