Is this an '07 model, they don't sound the same as mine?
Hi Dr F

It's an 05 model
Strange, mines an '05, but there are no threded inserts. The bar ends when you remove them should have a quite long insert that goes into the bar, the insert is brass and split on an angle so when you tighten them up they slip against each other to grip the inside of the bar. Any chance of a photo?
sounds like you have undone the bar end completely instead of just loosening the bolt and then tapping the bolt in slightly to free the captive off
put the old bar end back on and then just tap it in gently until it frees then remove the inner still attached to the bar end
hope this makes sense
Yes, just give me a sec
May not even be KTM bar ends
I just bought some barends from bikers jersey but not recieved em yet
should fit all bars though looking at em well not 1"bars but you know what i mean
They're the KTM orange anodised ones, bikers had them on ebay as superduke barends, they look just like any other bar end I've fitted before it is just my bars that don't appear to be normal.

as i said earlier put your bolt back into the threaded section and push it back into the bar then pull out the white plastic insert with the bolt
I will remove mine later and check it out properly if you want me to
I was wondering if this whole unit can be pulled out as the sleeve is slotted as if to compress and expand as I can't see how they would attach it inside the bar otherwise, short of using glue.

I wasn't able to pull it out by hand but was thinking mybe if I put the bolt in through something that doesn't fit inside the bar it might pull it out but I don't want to do any irreperable damage.
Ahh Ban1216 I didn't see your previous reply, I'll try knocking it in.
The suspence is killing me!
