I've got a Mychron Light TG on my motard, it's backlit which is useful as we generally practice at night (under lights obviously!!). It comes with a beacon and you can use a second beacon for split times.
Does exactly what it says on the box and super easy to read.

I myself use a GPS based lap timing software in my mobile phone. Works well and I also get sector times, trap speeds etc. I can recommend if you own a S60 based Nokia phone.
They have Brands already in their software. This doesn't cost a thing.
