Leaking Cylinders

After sorting out and a little bit of winter maintenance i finally got to ride the decepticon today!

Got back to the garage and checked the oil level, it was just under max, a little higher than mid way where i was trying to get it on sunday. But saw oil on the side of the engine covers, with a torch it looks like i have oil leaking from between the cylinders and the gearbox, even a little from under one of the SAS covers!? All round seal blowout?

Anybody experienced similar? i'm hoping that tightening the cylinder bolts will nip up the gasket enough, if these have gone what is the likeliness of others having gone pop too? would (could) the cylinder bolts work loose?

I have heard that overfilling can cause the LC8 to spit it everywhere and that alone has made me very paranoid each time i change it.

Any advice appreciated, i can't believe my luck.

I developed a small weep on my rear cylinder towards the end of last summer. Only does it when I thrash her hard. It's right at the bottom and so a pain in the arse/expensive to fix as the engine has to tip forward in the frame to life the rear cylinder head and then the cylinder and piston. Shade had a bad weep on his that came from the rear of the front I believe. His was so bad that it needed doing as it was dripping oil onto the rear tyre. Mine is nothing like that bad.

Both out bikes are fairly heavy mileage wise. His was 45+k miles and mine is approaching 40k miles. Other than that I've not seen a thread on here, that's not to say there hasn't been some though.

Mine weeps a bit from the front cylinder, and my 950 adv also seems to have a slight leak. They both lose tiny amounts of oil, but it just looks unsightly.

I would say this is alot of oil from mine, dribbling down the RHS onto the exhaust, and down the front, and down the left and back on the rear cylinder.

Gonna talk to stealer tomorrow about £parts and £labour estimates. it might be back on the stand for another month it was so good to get out on it today, nearly worth the month laid up to have the first ride again.

Just my 2cents worth but maybe it might be better to take the air box totally off and check around the starter motor and anything else up top.
The oil could be just running down from a leak up there.

As Colonel Klinck said check the oil switch. If I find a oil leak on a car this is one of the first things I check so Klinck might be right.
Also I thought maybe the breather hose.

Oil pressure switch is a classic leak point.

If it's not these then it's base gasket on the cylinder. I had mine (rear cylinder) done on my old SD. £250 from dealer, but he sealed it up good, real good! Mine had a tiny bit of corrosion on the engine that allowed the leak to worsten with age. Was also worse when redlining it too under higher pressure then one day, bam, it really opened up and pissed out a lot. I was at track that day and ended up lobbing it as the rear slid out on me.....oil on rear tyre? I didnt think so as i was checking it all day....but you never know.
