I don't know as the motor is still in bits!
The battery I bought is the one they recommend for the Ducati 1198 so I figured it was OK for the SD.
Its supposed to produce 240 crank amps - whatever that means.
Apparently the issue with these batteries is you don't want to deep discharge them or over charge them; these have some sort of safety mechanism in them to prevent that from happening but I still bought the specific charger.
I just hope its worth all that money!

Ive been running 1 now for about 18 months and it stood from September last year till earlier this month in a cold damp unheated garage. Tested it with a volt meter before re fitting it expecting it to have dropped voltage slightly but it was still showing a healthy 12.3V. (and when refitted cranked the bike over with zero problems).

The only negative with Lithiums is that they may need balancing, but this only really becomes a problem if your running a total loss system (the bike does not recharge the battery whilst running, such as a race bike).

Had mine from this guy here -

Really helpful and answered all questions i could throw at him

I had a Shorai 14 amp battery delivered from AMI Direct and after a full charge overnight (they come 90% charged anyway) it wasn't enough to turn over an '05 SD.

The guy then sent me a 21 amp model and that was massive so wouldn't fit, i would go for the 18 amp model in future (i said fook it i'll get another yuasa in the end and sent both back), just don't trust Shorai's recommendations.

From reading the instructions you need to have it on a charger/tender without the desulfating mode as it'll confuse the diagnostics in the charger.

I got a Shorai from my local KTM dealer a 14 amp and it works great I left the bike standing for a week and checked the voltage with Tuneecu and it was at 13.1 volts. MY old battery would be at 12.1 after a week standing. Also comes with a 2 year warranty.
