LSL steering damper

I noticed that LSL provides steering dampers for the SD. Has anybody already tried this? Anyway the price seems to be right... 229 EUR.

I recon a Mille damper could be modyfied to fit in front of the top yoke, just needs a boss turning to mount it to the front tank mount and a fork clamp.

You have to click on the damper pic up top, then there is a thing to click on that gives you a choice of motorcycle brand (ie: KTM) with a search button next to it. (it's all in german, but the pics are good)

The LSL damper kit will not fit 07/08 models unless they are making a new mounting kit, of which there is no mention in the LSL website.

In their website it is specified the kit will fit the 05/06 SD.

In the french SD-Forum the subject was already discussed and a guy bought the damper (in april this year) just to find out that it doesn't fit his 07 bike.

As you can see the two tanks have pretty different shape around the mounting point. The red arrows show where the damper touches the tank.

I am checking the mounting kit for you Joe, more info to come.

I can help both of you out, if you want. I can buy and ship to US if there is no other way....... I guess the Dollar / Euro ratio is in our favour at the moment, so i dont know if EUR 229 (nearly USD 300) is a good buy or what....

I could use some help on a G2 quick throttle as well.......

Hi Arashi.

I guess the tank is slightly different (probably bigger) on a 07 model. As far as i know the steering damper is exactly the same, only the mounting brackets are slightly different.

The steeringdamper-kit for the 07' model has 'LSL-art.nr.' 100KT08T

Bought one of these beginning of the year, went to fit it today, but can't get it to fit right.

Included in the box was a set of instructions for 05-06 (my bike) and for 07+ (my tank).

Could someone with one fitted to an 07+ please measure the "top hat" spacer, as I believe I have received the one for an 05-06, even though I ordered the later model version.

you need the lenght of the spacer between the tank and the damper bracket? I can mesure it for you tonight if you didnt get an answer yet.

Interesting - I'm not sure that mine has the correct hardware in that case as the LSL damper body can touch the tank on full left lock. I wish I'd checked to see whether the pukka Öhlins damper on my ZX-10R would have fitted before I sold it last weekend...

You need 3 pieces to fit it at the tank bolt, that spacer, another little stainless spacer with a beveled edge and a O-ring, if you only have the stepped spacer it aint gonna work.


They go like this


Stepped spacer mesures .900" oal and .600" long big end

Should look like this when installed
