I tried out the Oxford tail pack that I used on my last back to go shopping for me dinner at the weekend.
Fitting was ok, but getting the seat back on was a pain in the arse as the tailpack sits right over the bastid seat release lock!!

Seemed to sit ok. although I was getting my nuts mashed into the tank after a stoppie attempt with it full of fajita ingredients and corona...

Just fitted the baglux tank cover today and going to order the baglux style clips and have a go at modifying my oxford tankbag to see how well it fits.
Gotta be worth an hour of my time if it saves me 100 odd quid for a new bagster one.
Had thought about trying to rig up a support for my throwovers to keep them away from the cans, thinking wire coat hangers at the minute, covered with something to stop 'em marking the tank.
Think theres an old fire blanket somewhere around that could be used...

Let me know how you get on bud.

I have the ventura rack (with standard exhaust).

The rack could be modified if you are a neat welder and has access to oxy or similar to allow a couple of bends - so dont write them off completely... Im looking to get mine changed so that the mounting brackets bend inwards to avoid the exhaust - have had it looked at by a couple of mates who are welders by trade.

There seems to be no competetion for the Ventura, and they have no plans to make one that is more aftermarket friendly.

Cheers

I think modding a ventura rack is the way to go - shouldn't be too hard.

I took some pics of the one on my loaner bike for those who are interested.

I have used these racks on other bikes and its a good system thats easily removable when you don't want it...

The positioning doesn't seem right with the standard pipes - as you can see it gets blasted by the exhaust. And of course it doesn't fit with aftermarket pipes - someone reported here that ventura were not interested in doing one for aftermarket pipes??? I don't think it would be that hard to make it work...

I know a top box on a SD looks like shit. But I'm willing to sacrifice the looks beacuse of the the advantages. And one of my buddies rides a Ducati that breaks down all the time so I need a pillion seat that I can use. And I plan on using the 2 seat for longer trips anyway.

So I test mounted the 2 seat parts today. I was missing several parts so converted back to the SDR seat again. But took the oportunity to see if I can use the rack from my last bike. And it looks like it's possible with some welding and brackets. So this is how it will look (about, the rack is not fixed only resting on th bike):

Here are some pics I took of a loan bike I had while mine was being serviced - If you cut down your akras can't see why it would not fit - but it won't be pretty...
