Massive vibrations

Hi all, it's been a while!
I must admit to have been enjoying SpeedTriple ownership of late, but had a chance to sling a leg over my mates SD yesterday so he could sample some properly setup fuel injection.
I'm a bit worried about his SD. Whenever I got it above 7000rpm and heading north, the left footpeg started to vibrate so much I thought either my foot or the footpeg was going to come off! It was poor below 7k also. Sounded lumpy, felt like it too.
It was incredible the vibes running through this bike. Stuff it in 4th, 400rpm and nail the throttle and it nearly shook itself to bits!

I've ridden his bike before and it never, ever had the pickup, power, smoothness of mine. I wonder if there is something seriously wrong with his engine!! Any ideas?

I'm not a mechanic and didn't stay at the Holiday Inn express last night either. I have licked the finger tips and touched 'em against the header pipes of so many multis over the years to check if one is way hotter than the others.
It works for finding fouled plugs ,bad plug caps or loose wires.
My first road bike was a 2smoke 3 cylinder Kaw.
Passed my first drivers license test with it running on 2.(No it wasn't last year)
....Another 3c pansy!
