Mesh in belly pan

I have a 2010 990 and I've purchased a carbon fibre belly pan. It's arrived without any mesh at the front, just a open hole. Do I need to fit mesh? Has anyone had the same issue, bought a carbon belly pan and fit mesh or does the original belly pan mesh fit?

I have some mesh you can use. Black or silver.

Just silicone it on.
