Moto airbox and K&N

Hold up if any of the motobox owners where planing on going the with the K&N. The E-1300 dosent fit the latest version of the moto box for the 07/08SD. It works fine in the ones I made for 05/06SD as there a bit wider. Im working on finding the corect K&N and will update ASAP.

joe thinks it will but I am only guessing. Moto can make one that will fit if the one I have will not, it is different than the mar box.

Nick, do you still have your mar box, I can tell you how to see if it will fit or not.

I hace the next batch of moto boxes almost done, hoping to have them ready monday or tuesday. I have 5 and only 4 are spoken for. Im goinr to send the 5th one to an SDR owner to see if it will fit so I should know soon if it will.

Just got my box delivered then, and I gotta thank Aaron for one fine piece of engineering. Now I have to find a clear tank to show it off..
I didn't know it actually came with a filter as well so that was another surprise
Now I'm getting me some beers and heading to the workshop...

So I have the SD with the Leo's and the PC. The bike was modified by previous owner, he had it mapped and dynod but if I do the airbox, will new map be necessary?

I have 2 bikes
07 Gixer 600 with the Yoshi R55 full header, PC and map- bike smells rich
07 SD Leo's and PC and it also smells rich

So I wonder if the airbox mod will resolve the unburnt gas smell a bit

not sure if I should do anything.

I am trying to get the dyno results from the previous owner, as I bought it on sat.

K&N sent a filter of an outer contour that will work....but...
It will need to be made to a custom hight and I will need to make a reinforcing ring for the inside of the filter. I will post again as soon as I get teh rest of the kinks worked out.

Teh only reason for the gause filter is for the posiblity of water injestion, The filter area is so large on the motobox that regaurdless of the filter media the pressure drop across the filter is little to none. There is nothing wrong with running the FRAM filter, its cheap at $7, and works great. But there are some die-hard K&N users that want it.

If this deal with K&N falls thru or is too expensive Im going to give up on it and admit defeat

@joe, tanks for the cross refrance list, theres bound to be one of those that fit

@dade, If you want to see if BMC has anything with the 32" circumfrence and between 2.5 and 2.75" tall go for it, but dont buy anything, If they have somthing I will order it and see if it fits, I dont want to see anyone else going thru the trouble and expence of ordering and sending back filters.

@smoke, I do my best at bein a good guy... but after this fiasco im startin to wonder

and a huge thanks to everyone who has ben paitent with me thru this deal!

And yes, klink you are one of the two, I think it would be best to wait on the UK shipment until the K&N filters are ready to ship. And im going to think about how low Im willing to insure the shipment for to help save you guys as much as possible on the VAT and cover my arse, Im sure we can come up with a decient meidum.

GOOD NEWS! I got a call from the K&N production guy, I should have the filters mid next week!

Now for the bad news.... Im getting bogged down with PM's and emails and Im having a hard time keeping the "who got on the list first" strait. Im afraid I may have over sold my stock... I hope I dont screw up and have to make someone wait. To help ease my retarded little brain could all the guys who are committed to buying one please send me an email with your request of filter, and include you SD.net screen name so I can go thru the thread and try to get things strait. I have ordered more material and will be making more soon, so even if you dont make the cut this go-round you wont have to wait long.
