Moto Hooligan Butterflies

Looking for some tips on the removal of the stock secondary butterflies, specifically removing them from the shaft to replace with the Moto Hooligan units. I've tried heat to help loosen the locktite, but any pressure at all the the philips head of the stock screw starts to strip....Help!

Thanks!

had that problem just recently when i did mine.

Do you have diffrent sized phillips head screwdrivers..? I first started with one I thought was right on but it bit and stripped bits of the screw head, I then used one a little larger and was careful but got it off.

Other than that maybe use some multi-grips and lock onto the head of the screw.

Or take the TB's off and work on a bench where you are safe not to let any debris into the cylinder.

Plus one on the slightly larger screwdriver. Apply a good amount of pressure down onto the screw when you turn them off. And pray to the GODS.

After much heating and no success, I noticed that the primaries have the end of the screws peened (sic?) over (mushroomed) on the back sides so they can't back out, and, lo and behold, so are the secondaries...all the heat in the world won't cure that! So it looks like I'm going to gently grind that off with a dremel tool...tomorrow...I just can't figure out how they do that with the shaft assembled...obviously you can't put the butterfly on first and then insert the shaft into the throttle body. Oh the world of special tools!

Thanks for the tips guys...

As for the pressure part, I'm afraid of damaging the shafts in some manner....

You might have to use a easy out or use a drill bit larger than the screw and drill through the screw head so you can at least take off the old flies.

You must use a 'brand new' #2 phillips from a reputable tool manufacturer, i used a 'snap-on" and mine came out and i actually used them to go back in. Two of the new supplied screws would not start properly. Loctite RED too!

It might be wise to pull the throttle bodies if you are getting that involved.
PITA , but easier than a top end tear down if you drop something.
Me? Left the stock ones in, so far.

I have the MH flies installed but I thought I would try the bike without flies and came up with an idea.
So I turned flies off with Tuneecu and manually pushed the the control arm on the flies forward and put a spring in palace to hold the flies fully open.
Went for a ride and it seems to pick up quicker from low throttle. No hard work if you have the moto box as you can get to the control arm easy.
