Namaste,

Problem: Low Oil Pressure Warning light (red) is ON steady.

I was experiencing the intermittent Low Oil Pressure Warning (red) light on the dash last week. The occurrence was random enough for me to guess that the cause was the cable touching something. Yesterday i rerouted the cable and realised that the light was now ON all the time. So i quickly got back to diagnose the problem.

I used a long screwdriver as described earlier in this thread to bend the switch/connector back upright for easier access then i was able to reach the connector with my fingers.

I've clicked a few pictures to show you all what i'm seeing but there seems to be some oil on/near the switch. I've wiped the area since and hooked the wire back on and the warning light still stays ON (after ignition, and at idle running)

I would like to ask you all if you've seen this happen? and what could be some possible courses of action before i am convinced i need to take it to a Stealer.

Cheers.

You just need a new oil pressure switch.

thanks No.47. Yea, the part is <$10 so i was going to replace the pressure sensor switch.

Anyone tried replacing the switch from the side? is this doable? or would i need to take the Tank and Airbox off.

update:

I was able to replace the Oil Pressure Switch using a ratchet and a TALL 21mm socket. A short socket wouldn't work but the tall was enough to provide room for the pressure switch connector that is on top of the assembly. Was a fairly quick job. Used some silicone gasket maker to hold the copper washer in place prior to installation.
