Some times the oil comes from somewhere else, like when you add oil and a little bit runs down the oil tank then finds its way to the side of the engine. don't ask how I know

Damm Same with my 08. Just picked it up 450 miles on bike and oil sepage by water pump. Just to make sure I will force myself to go for a ride to the dealer and have him check it on my way to the track. Mabey he will let be take his SD R to the track.
