oil seeping around waterpump cover

it appears as though i have oil weeping from the water pump cover gasket. not a lot, just a thin film. there are no drips under the bike, or drips from the top end that i can find. i have cleaned it off a number of times, and the thin film comes back. my coolant is green, nor brown or sludgy. can anyone help?

Are you sure its coming from the cover? Have you just had your bike serviced? If it has just been serviced you will find oil in some strange places as the mechanic's don't give a rats and leave old oil to run free.

it has not been serviced recently. i feel like it must be coming from somewhere else too, but after a thorough search that included feeling in behind the frame and up under the tank for oil, i could not find anything. i even used some talcum powder to try and find oil (i am a Buell rider too, so i am expert at finding and dealing with oil leaks).

it's driving me crazy. i am wondering if it is possible that the water pump cover gasket got some how saturated with oil, and it is weeping out as it tries to get away from the coolant?

Mine always bleeding from there from under the rear screw at the water pump gasket..
When I pull the gas hard - less oil / commuting with the bike - more oil comes from there. I will use some Loctite there, the oil comes from the very little space between the case and the screw..
