Just got back from a biker rally called the March Hare, a round trip of 2500ks (1500 miles) trip to the South Island, New Zealand. Ill miss the part of getting wasted on Rum etc etc and get to the point. I was still 400 odd ks away from getting back home at a petrol station when i noticed that there was a collection of oil around the lower banjo bolt of the nylon oil sight tube on the side of the oil tank. Had noticed the Duke was a tad rattley so though bugger it, ill pop into the KTM shop in Palmerston North as i took there RC8 for a test ride a few months back so knew were they were located. The shop foreman talked me into taking the banjos bolt fittings off and replace the copper washers, i just wanted a oil top up to get me home as the Duke was booked in the following week for its 15,000 Ks service. Thank god i took his advice as it turned out the tube itself was split on the bottom banjo bolt fitting. well they fitted a bit of tubing off a Scott chain oiler and even twist wired it in place. Even went to the trouble of putting a heat gun on the tubing before assembling to see how it would cope with the oil temperature. (put half a litre of oil to top it back up Well it got me home 4 hours later, rang the lads in AFC Motorcyles (KTM agents) and thanked them big time..
