There is a couple of checks that you need to do, first off all although SD is a dry sump bike it still has gravity to the pull the oil down especially if the bike is left stading for a long time and the oil stop plunger (spring loaded ball bearing at the bottom of the oil tank) is stuck open. it should be chacked every service.
secondly do you have any oil leaks at all.
and SD do use a bit of oil but not enough to empty the tanke between services, also did the garadge run the bike after the service and top up.
top it up and keep an eye on it.

It is not the best way of checking oil levels. Sometimes mine looks completely empty, 5 mins later it is nearly full make sure bike is properly warmed up, let it idel for at least a min upright, turn off and let it sit for a few seconds.

they're known for using oil for the first few (can't remember exact number, maybe up to 4-5??) thousand miles

then they chill out a bit

Mine used 2ltrs in first 2000 miles but barely a drop since, despite lots of trackdays.

It seems to be the norm that they use oil in first 2000 miles
