Well I've lost paitence with this bike, brought the thing in two weeks ago with a fuel leak problem that has kept me from a ride most of the summer as I don't own a truck for transport, finaly got it in for service, have yet to remove the carbon canister, dealer said leak was due to the canister, blew it out , good to go, well four days in the barn, opened the door today for a ride out and up to my ass in gas, at least a gallon on the floor and dripping all down the side of the bike, into the battery box, all the wireing, fricken everywhere, I had mentioned I thought the problem lay in the low fuel sensor seal in the tank, guess they didn't want to raise the tank for a look see,, blew off my thoughts completly, WTF do I know this thing as is , is just a door stop to me,,will give it ONE MORE try, and if it's the same on it's return, this dealer IS going to buy back this explosion waiting to happen,,,nice door stop,,,,,went down and put money on one of these I found for sale from a long time dealer with OLD EXPERIANCED MECH'S that don't screw the pooch , it ain't cheap but it's not a problem,,should have bought this first,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,

Extremely annoying for you and very disappointing. Superdukes are generally reliable and massive fun to ride, but you may have got yourself a duff one. I suspect it's not really a big deal to fix if they definitively find the source of the leak. That said if you've totally lost confidence in the bike you may be better off bailing...only you know what you really want to do.

yup, biggest problem with KTM is lack of knowledgable/reliable dealers, specially in NA... having said that, i see no problem for any electricals to take a little gasoline bath... should not give you any problems down the road, gas evaporates faster then water and is not as conductive, and rain does not kill it - why should a "little" gas leak?

call the dealer, tell them it's leaking gas again, it's not safe to ride it, and they need to come, pick it up, and fix it! They will (they should) - it is under warranty, and they will bill KTM for it...

i rode the HP2, super nice bike, but i would not trade my SD for it...

Dealership informed me today that KTM is sending a new replacement fuel tank for me to solve this problem of leaking fuel,, wondering if anything is different with the new one over the old one ie: vents and such to cure this,, wondering also what they'll do if this doesn't work,,,,,,ordered up a pair of Hooligans hinges for the new unit also,, make things a bit easier,,,,,

Here we go again, the dealer informed me today that they aren't going to change out the tank, their going to screw around with the seals on all fittings under the tank first, why do I think I'm gonna get this thing back and once again it will still be a flood of fuel pouring out if so I'm done with this thing, could have bought a Harley with better results i'm sure, will have a bunch of stuff for sale very soon, all the bling one could need,,

Well in some ways it's not the bike that seems to be the issue but a rubbish dealer.

Hey Maddog,

It's finally stopped raining and the roads are drying up. The leaves are changing and the summer folks are gone. The best season for riding is upon us. Hope they've got your bike sorted out now. Time to ride.

Hey gents

It's been a few months...After having my SD in twice for fuel leaks...I've had it sitting..Rode a bit after repairs the second time.Ive been getting ready for spring with mods I've started...Leo's..motobox..flies..etc.. I've found the tank is STILL leaking...Also found the rear brake master switch is leaking too...Now I'm thinking my dealer is not trustworthy...Anyone out there use Thousand Oaks Motorsports..??? Yep...Have the extended warantee but last time it was in they had it for 3 Fn months..I'm a little pissed..and glad I've taken more time digging into the bike and familiarizing myself with how it ticks...I'm a mechanic by trade..Just after 29 years...Sometimes you prefer letting someone take care of your headaches that MIGHT..??? know better...and what the F is the warantee for if they can't Fn fix it..???

hey MAD DOGhope things are runnin a bit smoother for you ... for me i reckon you will be feeling a bit better about your bike now . It dont take many miles to appreciate this fine machine. The problem with new bikes is that we seem to want perfection and you know thats not available. Then theres the warranty. Just a sales gimmick really, but if it gets you through any teething problems then all well and good. When its run out the fun begins , we can shake off all that desperate need for everything to be done to our own high standards by someone on £10 per hr. Then we can start to keep it real, making simple repairs simple again. I know that if we had similar problems on £500 bikes they would be fixed without fuss and we would be enjoying the ride again.Hope this makes sense. I have had this problem and Know how easily i can be victim of all the new bike mind fook.
No dissrespect Just take a step back and enjoy the view when you can .You got a fantastic bike Hope you get some good milage in so you can see its finer qualities. PEACE.
Keep the Faith
