You know. This bike has some weird unexplained things that no one seems to be able to figure out. And it happens whether the bike is new used modified or oem stock. Take a look at my attempt to balance my throttle bodies. Now I have done balancing on my now sold VFR800 and all four cylinder were dead on. I'v never done a twin before. Maybe this is normal. Take a look at this youtube vid of my 2008 SDR. Anyway I decided not to adjust. Tell me what you think

Mine started cutting out intermittently or just spluttering. Sometime when I was gassing it and sometime just when I was pootling in traffic. I nearly got wiped out doing a lane change when it cut out two weeks ago and I started losing my nerve. It re-starts okay straight after the cutting out. Took it into my dealer here and he's remapped it but he also said that there was a lot of gunk in the fuel fliter so has sorted that too. So far (fingers crossed) I havent had a repeat of the stalls but I dont know whether it was a mapping or fuelling issue...

Good luck!

Big,

I am scheduled to be flying into Heathrow on Thursday (then onto Manchester) and was gonna offer to give you a hand depending on your location. Unfortunately Mother Nature has other ideas.

If I make it over the pond and you're still in need of assistance I'd be happy to have a go and see if we can't get your bike sorted.

Different symptoms but my erratic running problems, thought to be TPS related, turned out to be air leak(s) at the rubber sleeve(s) between the throttle body and cylinder head intakes - might be worth a check.

Thanks for the tips but its all above my head TBH
I dont really no about electrics other than stuff i can follow out of a text book

KTM hav been back on to say that all sensors etc check out perfectly on the Diagnostic tool

Theyve also given me the BS that theyve had reliable information that the way my bike is set up (Motobox, 2nd butterflies removed) that this will give problems like stuttering and cutting out! FFS does it mean nuthin that its runs fine for the last 18months????????

Theyve basically said unless i put it back to stock they cant do anythin with it, so i told em to stick it back together and ill go pik it up

So, here we go again!!!!!!!

I just had the fuel pump replaced on my 09 SDR.
From start the symptoms were some occasional stumbling and loss of power. After some time the bike wouldn'r rev past 5-6000 rpms.

The dealer measured the fuel pressure and could see it was too low.
With the new pumpo my bike runs great again. I think it has been robbed of some power from the bad pump for quite a while.

This didn't give any error codes...

Or all at once, seeing as I need to get on a track in warmish weather to test it out!

Thanks for the plug info BTW - once I had the info I found one on the bay.

I checked those thanks Ash. I made sure they were pushed home correctly, couldn't see all of the hose from every angle but best as I could I checked they were not damaged.

Yes, after a few minutes leant against the armco she started second time.

Before the next session it took a few attempts to start her, then it out and running well up the straights and through corners where I could keep the throttle open during the entrance phase but doing it's stutter thing in corners where I entered on a closed throttle.

fook me - how much did a new set cost you?

I'm still stuck in China at the moment - the BA strike means I'm having trouble getting a earlier flight home than my already booked Friday one.

It's mad to replace the whole throttle body assembly for anything other than diagnostic purposes.

I rode around it at Cadwell, Snett and Brands - you can't commit to a corner properly though, because you never know when you'll have zero throttle when you start to open it up.

It's quite dangerous because if it gives you nothing you really have to stand the bike up a bit, the potential for being rammed from behind* is massive.

Mine does sometimes die and and won't restart - I needed recovery at Brands and Snett.

It's unrideable at Jerez with 3 hard stop corners in 2nd and another in 3rd.

*that should make the quote thread!

Haven't read the full post - but have you changed the regulator and/or the battery for a known good one ?

Sure sign of problems in this area are the indicators flashing oddly (fast then slow) with engine running but fine with engine off.

I had this and both battery and regulator checked out OK, so couldn't work out which was causing problem so replaced both, runs fine now.

I know this is a different problem to your symptoms but a screwed regulator can have some weird effects with ECU and sensors etc.

Hav a look of Fleabay under Super duke (WITH THE SPACE BETWEEN THE WORDS) theres a few sensors going for around a £10 each if you think they may be the problem!?

Thanks Ash. I have sent them a message as some items are not as described though.

What is this? Is it a pick up? They have it listed as a air pressure sensor!

Took my bike for MOT yesterday and found at low revs on a constant throttle, say 3000, I was getting some stumbles which I never had before.

Hope it's not the start of something
