Got mine off ebay, works a treat.

If you get the software disc with it though and are running vista then don't bother loading it as it won't work, just download it straight from the dynojet site www.powercommander.com and install it from there.

As a side note, I fitted mine in the headlight mask instead so I could keep the room under the seat free.

Dude if you are good on the spanners you'll piss this. I'm no mechanic but I fitted mine in about 40 mins. The instructions in the box are good enough.

Make sure you download the right map for your bike and upload from your PC via USB cable to PCIII (software CD included and easy to follow) What SD do yo have? There might be a Motobox custom map for your SD already doing the rounds here. Mine is 06 SD, Akra round slip-ons (baffles out) Motobox, SAS removed. If your bike matches you are welcome to try it, if not there are others. Post up bike specs and someone will sort you out I'm sure.

As for the O2 sensor eliminators all they do is plug the already existing cable from the O2 Sensors to the ECU. They are not in the PCIII loom and are just stand alone plugs.

You are going to love what the Motobox does to your SD It puts a big smile on my face just thinking about it. Takes something bad ass and gives it that bit more attitude

Oh and as you are in London, just a heads up. A fair few of us go out for blasts when the weather is dry/warmer (so next June then ) Nothing quite like a hoard of SDs tearing up the countryside Keep an eye in the Rides : Meetings and the On Track sections.

I'm pretty sure I read the same article as you on the 15 min reset thing but came away with a different opinion, although the thread started out as if it made sense, by the time I got to the end the guy had pretty much been shown out as not having a clue what he was talking about although it was kind of agreed that ECU reset is probably not the right word for what it actually does, either way it seems it does still take readings during that 15 min run time with regards to various stuff and is free so might as well do it anyway, the idea being that you'll have a nice fresh base to start from before you disconnect the o2 sensors.

Unfortunately you can't plug the PCIII into a PC without a power adapter as it won't run off the usb connection, I don't think it has a std type power inlet so you can't use a generic universal power supply and I think although I never looked into it more closely that you have to use the specific Dynojet power supply at additional cost, so you're gonna need a mate with a PC laptop (or a macbook running windows via parralels or bootcamp) or a really long usb cable to run from his desktop.

The PCIII map doesn't override the ECU map it is in addition to, it adds or subtracts fuel from it, ie; if the ECU gives a fuel value of 5 and this is too rich, the PCIII map will have a negative value of lets say -1 to lean it out according to what the tuner decides is needed. This is why if you have the akra map installed you need to pick a PCIII map that is designed around the akra map as the base values will be different than the std ecu map

The dynojet supplied maps are created on customer bikes at the dynojet tuning center so what's available depends on the bikes they had at the time.

You can always confirm with the supplier to make sure it is sent out with a zero map to start with and so it doesn't make any adjustments until you can get to a mates and upload something more suitable.

Thanks guys,

I'm still pondering my two options.

1. Used PC111 on ebay for £199.00 buy-it now price agreed with seller.
(cheaper but maybe damaged with no warranty)
or

2. New kit for £239.00 from reputable tuning shop.
(more but with full UK warranty and peice of mind)

Will decide this weekend. Then it's just a wait for the Motobox and I've got my Christmas presents all sorted to give to my partner to give back to me!

Got my Motobox from Aaron yesterday!! It had got caught up in the Parcel Force / Customs bollox, (£30 additional cost). Thing is it's my Christmas present from my partner so I had to hand it over without even opening it. How frustrating is that...... Now I'm as excited as my kids for tomorrow morning.

With all this shitty weather, (and no garage), the only way I can see of getting the box fitted and SAS off is to bring the SD inside for the Christmas holidays and so kids can play with toys and so can I! My partner has been very understanding.....how luck am I

Thanks for all the advice, (Klink and TJ), about PC111's, maps, etc. No doubt I will be back here asking more as I get underway.

Hi Luis, Greetings from NZ.
You can buy the motobox from a member, look in the parts for sale tread his link is in there as a sticky. Motohooligan parts
SAS valve bleeds air in to the exhaust to clean the cat on overun, no need for this when you changed the original exhaust unless you like the popping noise.
The PCIII you can use with anything and any map in the ecu you like, the best thing to do is get a custom map made by a dynojet centre or on a dyno with an operator who knows what he is doing. All the PCIII does is modify the existing map by adding or substracting fuel for a particular rpm-trottle position.
On my bike I found the maps way to rich for cruising speed/trottle openings and a bit weak when twisting the trottle. Since I adjusted that, it goes like stink when needed and uses less petrol when at steady speed.

Hi Resmas,

Due to the really amazing blue sky and sunny weather in London today went for the first run, (up to Hemel Hemstead KTM dealer), since installing the new Motobox and ripping out the shitty, heavy, ugly airbox and SAS system.

First report is OMG what a difference! Smooth throttle below 3/4,000 rpm - I really noticed how much I'd developed the habit of feathering the clutch in 1st and 2nd, finger always on the lever in traffic. Now I don't have to do that. Also the sound is awesome! Induction similar to my old aircooled Ducati, pretty deafening at over 80mph - really loud at 100, can't really hear the exhaust - and that's with Akras with no baffles. But I'm not into touring so that's not a problem really, just makes the riding experience very raw - which is how I like it.

Can't comment on power gains, as it always feels bloody fast, but we will wait and see when I get a dyno run soon when it's custom mapped with the PC111.

Also, (but I believe that this is down to SAS removal), is that the overrun popping I've lived with for over two years is gone. I know that this divides opinion but for me this is better, I love the smooth bwooaaaar of overrun and can well do without the distracting backfire so for me this is great!

I have photographed the stages of work needed to instal the Motobox, take out the SAS and fit a PC111 and am putting it together into a downloadable document so that Aaron, at Motohooligan, can send it out to people like you. I'm compiling an introduction with all the benefits and pieces of advice that I've found searching through these threads including dyno maps, links to related threads and testimonials from happy Motobox customers. It seems that for such a fantastic bit of kit it shouldn't be that hard for new interested parties to find out about so I'm doing my good turn for 2010 and spreading the word. Should be finished soon but if you just want the pictures/instructions bit that's done and I could send it to you. Like all converts I just want people to see the light. It's worth it for the sound alone!

Don't think about it anymore, get one ordered!
bic_bicknell

bic_bicknell

Oh,

On the SAS thing, was talking to KTM mechanics yesterday asking them about what they do about the FI light when they take the system off. Their answer is that they junk all the hoses, fit the block off plates but leave the redundant valve in place still hooked up, (so although it doesn't do anything the electrics are unaffected). If you decide this is the way to go and fit the Motobox and junk the OE airbox you'll have to find another way to attach the valve unit though because it currently is attached to the back of the OE airbox.

To me this is a bit messy and mine is off completely but I'm still trying to source the right 1000ohm resistor to solder on. Anyone out there got one spare?

I don't get this 06-07-08 ect thing with PCIII. Is there any difference at all in the wiring between the years? I'm 99.9% sure there isn't so the PCIIIs should be identical no matter what year they say it is for.

A question, after uploading a new map into the PCIII and connecting it to the bike, do you have to pull the 15min ecu reset stunt?
If yes than this is a bugger.... ...i hope not.
