I have an 05 model with Graves pipes and the Akra map on the factory ECU. Mine was popping and banging beyond belief and to be honest I soon got over the novelty of it. I removed the SAS system by taking off the factory plates with hoses, I fitted a pair of SAS block off plates from here.

I left the SAS valve in place on the rear of the airbox and still connected electrically, I removed al the hoses from it plugged the airbox outlet with black silicone. One of these days I may get around to disconnecting it to see if doing so gives me an Fi light but at this point in time i can't be bothered and I'm not Rossi so the extra weight won't hurt.

I also put in a BMC air filter filter while I had her all apart...and my bike has never run so good [/url]

A friends who is a mechanic and whom I bought the SD off came to my rescue as I had the exact same problem. It was backfiring when changing up gears and everything.

He told me to replace the gasket/seal that fits in between the short rear header pipe and main pipe that joins directly at the swingarm. It is a circular 1 inch wide collar type gasket.

Once we replaced this I had ZERO popping and banging

I'd start by removing the SAS system, if it's still in place. That stopped 99% of the popping and banging on mine. But think about it first as lots of people miss the noise once it's gone.

Naa, it was cheap, I like getting all of that clutter off the top of the engine, now my tank doesn't stay hot in traffic.

just wait until I re-route all of the hoses and wiring, joe will clean it up more each time I am in that local.

It is a snap to access all of the things under the tank. TB's valve covers, spark plugs, it is all easy to get to.

daamn! This is what I was looking for. I saw your sig line saying motohooligan airbox, and I thought I'd better look before I aked if you were busy with a report on it.
So. The bike's back from the dyna tuning and now you put the new airbox on? How's the weather? - You going for a test ride?

In the second/middle photo... what's the Y connector / vent tubes? I haven't got that. I can see one tube coming off the rear throttle body, I suppose the other one behind the crash slider coming from the front tb, and then the...other tube going around the starter motor, to...?

In the first photo what's that twinflex wire with the..non-bike connector dangling over the frame? A battery charger connector?

I need access. This is one thing that's been holding me with getting this new bike ready - I've been getting involved with the wiring and hoses like I usually do.
