cjc, I had noticed that the bolts are really too long on the R&G stuff, to the point I was carefully watching that they were not hitting anything, I have decided that I am going to take mine back out and cut them to the proper length cos if I were to have ANOTHER crash, that those bolts being too long could possibly make contact with the cylinder head, and we can't have that shit going on now can we?

#8Right. I'm talking about the original nuts behind the ends of the Y on the bike, across which the R&G bar is bolted (the bar to which the bobbin is bolted). The original nuts were held in place by bits of plastic but a couple of them popped out when I pushed in the R&G bolts. The nuts have a thin cut lateral to the threads, and the cut was compressed mostly shut. The only reason I can imagine is to help hold in the original bolts.
Just inserting them, I also was worried the R&G bolts were to long - had to push some parts out of the way. Maybe I'll cut them down also.
I bought some new nuts and will try those.
