In various topics I came across emails about Rapid Bike Modules being fitted the next day, next week, soon etc. but I haven't seen any feedback, results or experiences yet.

Any news??... I'm very curious...

YES THERE IS FEEDBACK.

I received the SD last friday. Driving it I noticed a huge progress in the low-rev's area. Midrange rev's I also noticed clear improvement. At the top range it got back to almost std. I have a jpeg-format graphic with three coloured curves:
Black: std with akra+db killers
Blue: Rapidbike 3 with akra+db killers
Red: Rapidbike 3 with akra without db killers

I can't get the graph smaller than 2,2mb, so I cannot upload it. How can I get it on the forum?

I was looking at the graph again and showed it to a dyno specialist I know well and who's very experienced with the RB Module. I (we) think it looks like something is wrong with it.

The power & torque gain is just too huge to be the result from optimizing the mixture and ignition curve. The graphs are virtually identical but shifted from the base run. Mixture optimization and pre-ignition can't be responsible for peak power shifted 1000 RPM earlier either.

Given the fact that a Fuchs dyno calculates the RPM from the drum (instead of picking up the ignition pulse from the engine like others do), it seems like the gear or gearing is changed between these runs.

Do you know if the second and third run are done in a lower gear or that the gearing is changed? You did mention a 16T front sprocket.

isthis one graph whith 16T sprocket?
i think that its normally the maximun power is at 8.500 rpm
are you using DNA filters?

what do you think about that:

Hmm... sounds kinda strange. An emergency map won't pull such a good and smooth curve IMO but we have to take it that the mechanic know what he's talking about.

In the meantime things are progressing Down Under at TuneBoy. I just had contact with them and they gathered the required info on the download protocol to the KTM Keihin ECU. I will take a little time to implement this protocol in their TuneEdit software but then we'll have the full monty.

TuneEdit is able to make new fuel- & ignition maps from scratch giving total control over every single parameter. This is THE way to go and fundamentally better than 'sensor tricking' like PowerCommander or Rapid Bike Module does . TuneEdit builds and downloads an entire new map into the ECU created the same way as Keihin/KTM does without he need for additional wiring, piggy back boxes etc. Obviously this has to be done by a specialist/Tuneboy dealer.

Watch this space!

I'd be interested in seeing how this compares to the Map supplied by KTM for the Akra system. Based on my experience I would expect the results to be very similar. I certainly found a huge increase in low-mid range torque.

I think the pick of bikes is not as obscure as it looks. I believe the owner/founder of TuneBoy was a Triumph specialist long before. The other bikes share technically comparable FI systems so thats why they're available. That's why I contacted them about the SD with it's Keihin FI used by Triumph too. And the website isn't really up-to-date. This is the current availability:

- Triumph, all models, Sagem and Keihin ECU's.
- Aprilia RST Futura and Caponord (Sagem ECU)
- Excelsior Henderson (Sagem ECU)
- Aprilia RXV/SXV 450 and 550 (Walbro ECU)
- Buell (VDO ECU)
- Ducati (P8, M16 and M15 ECU's, the P8 and M16 require an EProm burner)
- Guzzi (M15 ECU)
- Gas Gas, Sherco

But I think THE most important question regarding the choice of a system is if you have access to a specialist who has knowledge and experience in setting it up on your bike.

I have the 'luxury' of knowing a specialist that has a lot of experience with all three systems, PC, Rapid Bike and TuneBoy. So my preference for TuneBoy, Rapid second and PC third comes from his experience and results with these systems.
