Rear brake fade??

I have a 14km commute to work every day, through town and reasonable heavy traffic and so I use the rear brake a fair bit.

On three occassions now just as I get within the last km of the jaunt I appear to loose all pressure in the rear brake pedal. Push down and no resistance, no braking.

Anyone experienced this? Surely this cannot be break fade, given the short journey and the steel braided hoses??

Any ideas/comments pls?

If bleeding rhe rear system doesn't cure the problem, you are most likely over using it. The SD is not a Harley.

Only ever use the rear brake to steady the bike going into turn, find it pretty ineffective in stopping the bike, front has all the power you need.

use front brakes, man. i don't even remember using rear last, it is absolutely useless. i only put my foot over it when wheeling, it's a great way to bring down the front wheel when you go too high. seriously, ~80-90% of braking is in the front. trafic or not, i just don't see any use for it. in emergency braking i'd still use it (beside using front of course), but otherwise, why? didn't you take any bike school/riding course? one of the first things they tell you... at least it was 15 yrs ago...
