Managed to bust the small U shaped Stainless steel plate that sits in front of the pads My dealer is still on his Christmas holiday, so I was wondering if say Ducati used the same caliper, as there is a Ducati dealer nearby.

Deets, If you are talking about the thin shim that goes between the back of the brake pad and the caliper piston,
you could throw the old one away and forget about it, all that is for is to absorb tiny vibrations that may or may not develop into a slight squeak during light braking,
it is call a anti-squeal shim in my industry. nothing to worry much about, I throw them away every day.
