My rear cylinder base gasket is gradually giving up... looks like a tight squeeze to remove the head and cylinder to replace the gasket in situ........has any one done it with the engine still in the frame?

Can't be done. But pulling the frame off is easy, so just do it...

Mine also weeps from the bottom rear of the rear cylinder, although it's not bad enough to warrant the hassle of fixing.. yet. I was told you have to pivot the engine forward in the frame to gain access. Involves removing rad and oil tank but you don't need to remove engine fully from frame.

well thanks for that..clear as mud .. i will just have to try pivoting the engine forward before i give up and pull the frame off.....happy days

Sorry for a vague answer Having not done it I can't give you much info. The pivot point I think will be the swing arm. With the engine tilted forward you can remove the head through the frame. For detailed instructions for how to remove I'd be looking in either the KTM forum or maybe ADV rider as the Adventure uses the same engine and some of those guys have put mega miles on them and have done top end rebuilds and the like. I'm sure there will be a How To somewhere on one of those.
If you find one that's good post up a link. I may need it some day
