Rear Shock Preload Adjustment

Wanted to take the wife and scare her last night. Loosened the Allen set screw on the preload collar. Then got out my GenUine KTM preload spanner. Then commenced cursing. Then tighted said set screw to 5Nm, as per my GenUine KTM manual. Told wife I'd scare her later with the Big Duke. Question: Short of cutting my spanner down, how do you all adjust that thing without cursing. Big Duke getting very worn - need alternate scare option fast.
