Just bought a new SD which now has 650 Km on the clock. Still running in. 1st service at 1000 Km.
All my experience has been on big fours - still learning the torque delivery of the SD. I wonder if anyone can advise please?
I live in Switzerland so most of these 650 Km's have been done on very twisty roads where apex speed is often as low as 30 mph in 2nd. Very careful not to over-load a new engine when winding on from around 1500 rpm, but even so, under moderate acceleration there seems to be excessive sprocket & chain noise. Compared to a four in the same gear with similar throttle input & revs I wouldn't expect it.
I have to be surprisingly gentle during initial wind on to prevent it. Back wheel is bang in-line & chain tensioned correctly without tight spots - so mystified.
Is it the dipstick riding it? Is this normal for an SD so ignore it? Is it because I'm running in? Or will the dealer wave a magic wand over it during its 1st service?
I'd appreciate your views....
Cheers
Pete
