Amazing how long such stories survive. SAS has nothing to do with engine performance. Getting rid of the hoses and stuff is the only reason to remove it (and a good one BTW). Some bikes show less back firing on a closed throttle with SAS removed.
BUT... SAS does f*ck up air-fuel readings on the dyno. So if your bike has been setup on a dyno with SAS working, it's too rich throughout.
