Anyone fitted one to their SD?

I did and it worked a treat. However, I just had some new Akros fitted (very nice - especially with the baffles out ) but the bike was stalling all the time on idle. This was an occasional problem previously (once every few days) and the dealer couldn't explain (or fix) it.

To cut a long story short, I had teed into the vacuum pipe on the LHS under the tank. KTM reckon this is a no-no as the pipe is 'tuned'. Dealer replaced the pipe (FOC) and so far so good.

Where else can I get a vacuum supply that won't interfere with the idle speed?

Not exactly the answer you're looking for, but Motrax do a version which doesn't require a vacuum, it's completely electronic and speed variable. It's called the lubetronic and I can definately recommend it

I've got a Scottoiler on my SD. I took the vacuum from the inlet manifold of the rear cylinder. On the right hand side of the bike just remove the small blanking screw from the manifold and replace it with the Scottoiler adapter that has the same thread. It works well and I have had no problems. I bought this Scottoiler about 20 years ago (first fitted to my new GPZ900R) and have just swapped bikes around it!.

Plip, What year is your bike?
Mine's a 06 and the vacuum point is located on the left handside of the bike.

I thought I was going crazy as I could not find anything on the RHS

Mine's an 05 but I'd be surprised if they changed the vacuum take off point (but who knows!!). It's just a 7 or 8mm hex head bolt at the bottom of the rear throttle body on the right. The scotty kit has a brass spigot that fits the hole.

Whatever you do, don't cut the tube that runs from the left side up along the bottom of the tank.

If you still can't find it I'll post up a pic of the bolt.

Check the 2nd pic on this link....

Worked out that the oil was still primarily low temp so became very thin with our current high temps. I've flushed it all out now and it doesnt seem to be flicking at all. Will keep checking it as I go. but it sure does keep the chain clean compared to the normal spray method I used.
