SD_R '08 & Akra remap ??

Went with my SD-R '08 to see the KTM specialist instead of my regular dealer. Had problems with very
snatchy throttle response in 1st and 2nd gear below 4000rpm and engine stalling problems.
I've got the slip-on Akra's installed and the Akra mapping (so I was told).

They first checked the mapping: it appeared to be the regular EU mapping for standard exhaust with cat, hmm that's strange....

They tried to download the july version of the Akra map into the ECU but it failed (error stating some kind of code mismatch).
So they checked on the internet: there wasn't an Akra map available for a SD-R '08.
Via the KTM site they found a newer EU map for the 61105099200 slip-on exhaust.

This is the dynorun after installing the new EU map and a DNA filter.

Test driving it was a revalation. I now could take 1st gear corners and round abouts in 1st gear without driving like a twat or with a deathwish.
No more engine stalling, and much smoother throttle response and not banging my n*ts on the tank when shutting the throttle.

Does any of you know of an Akra map for the SD-R '08?

Fraid I don't have any info for you, but am very interested to hear about this as I pick up my SDR on Monday. Looks like I'm in for a jerky time !

My 06 was pretty bad too but finally got it sorted as others have done - one way or another...

One thing - looking at your dyno run, the fuelling seems ever so rich - some places about 10:1 when optimum is usually about 13:1. Does it smell of petrol after a ride ?

Cheers,

Paul

they have not written an 08 SDR akro map, nor have they for the standard SDR, they are using "standard superduke maps" they are out of synch because the engine configuration is different, hence the snatch and jerk,

It will be interesting to see how mine comes back from KTM UK, frankly unless they load a brand new map, specifically developed for an 08 SDR that runs the bike richer below 4,000 rpm, I and they are waisting there time, it might be good development time for them, so they experience it, but, hey you never know,

Frankly (the-bunker), if I had not picked mine up, I would think twice, at least until they develop a new map, that allows the bike to run safe on the roads, alterenativley fit a Power commander it will run smooth-correct fueling, but why should you on a new bike, you were warned,

P.S keep a weeks Holiday back, you will need it for all the trips back to the dealer for mapping

So, with Akra cans on order for my SDR, maybe I should just cut the 1/2nd gear wires and go straight to PC III custom tune, skipping loading the Akra map?

PS: I am actually now used to the seat....but want the aftermarket to be offered from KTM twins, to lose the plasticky look/feel.

I've got std SD with Akra map and, as per graph, it is very rich. It really knocks your fuel economy, at best I get 36mpg.

However, it is a much better than the std map, which surged, popped, banged and flamed all the time.

Not sure what the answer is but neither map is correct for my bike.

yesterday I cut the 2+3 gear wires as I'm running the EU mapping.

...and what a differce this makes. Very smooth action now and lo and behold, it ran 11.65 liters in 199 km (1:17) Image

(I have to admit due to the company I was with today, I didn't bang the throttle thàt much, but my Tuono never reached this kind of figures)

The bike is much smoother now (i.e. I'm in control now...Image),
so thank you all for the tips on this forum!

PS..

off topic:

We (my girlfriend & I, and a couple of friends) like our bike holidays where there are great mountains, twisty roads and dozens of hairpins.
We do that every year. Over the past years we've ridden the Timmelsjoch, Glossglockner, the south of Tirol/Dolomites, Andorra, the south of France (Gap area).
Sometimes we got surprised

Andorra (Tuono)

but also had very nice roads

on topic again....
When I say my bike runs smooth, it means I'm in control of the throttle so I can have my holiday's without a parachute .
