Seat Annoyance and Steering Lock Issue

I've searched the forum for a bit and couldn't find anything.

The '07 SD seat is easy to put on but a pain to take off.
Even when the tool kit is removed I have to wrestle the
seat off. I remember seeing a mod that cut an area of the
plastic near where the seat tangs hook onto the subframe;
anyone done this or have photos?

The other thing that is a minor issue is turning the key in or
out of the full steering lock position. I can't turn the bars all the
way left, if I do the key won't turn in or out of full lock. So
I have to slightly lift the handlebar to the right to turn the key.
Annoying. Is there a solution to this?

hey flow.... er... Andy, I have the seat down to a science, wish I had a video camera sos I could show you, I can make this look nearly magical... mystical... poof it is off! best thing I can say is pull the entire seat straight back, I hold it with my right hand on the front and the left on the rear LH side. It takes a touch or should I say a jerk, just a slight but semi forceful tug to get it to let loose.

on the key thing, it really tears up the bikes head stock when the thieves come to steal it and the front is locked, if you have no insurance then by all means lock it up but since this information of junk frame assemblies I just save myself the headache and leave it unlocked... the way you have described the steering thing it is just like mine, I think this is a euro thing?...

What's happening joe?
I'll try your seat approach. I remember seeing a long time ago
someone that had cut a straight section out of the plastic that
kept the integrity of the plastic but allowed the seat to ease off.

And, shhhh, no theft insurance. Only liability. Well, what's that
old bumper sticker say? Insured by Smith & Wesson?
