I'm taking my bike to projex to have the rotty box fitted and the bike mapped. He wants to remove the flies at the same time but my experience with this on other bikes hasn't always been a happy one.

Specifically I'm wondering if those that have done this have noticed any loss of engine braking or reduction of low end pick up. I know it will add a pony or two up top which is welcome but I don't want to loose any off the throttle brutality that I like so much.

Any input much appreciated

Looking forward to this answer as well. I'm looking at SAS plate install, 2nd fly removal, and a remap for my own bike. Love the grunt down low as well a the engine braking. I'd hate to lose any of that.

I pulled my secondary flies but left the bars they attach to in the throttle bodies.

I didn't notice any loss of power over the rev range at all, it did cure my snatchy on/off throttle at low RPMs (coupled with a remap located in my signature). I'm not sure on the engine braking since it's been so long.

This subject has been flogged to death....
I ran it for ages and so have others with the 2nd flies out. No problem at all!

Yes, slightly less engine braking after removal of secondary flies and bar. My bike runs very smooth for a Superduke.

- I have secondaries removed plus bar, moto hooligan box installed, RC8 stacks installed (up top slight gain down low slight loss), 02 sensors eliminated, Remus exhaust, PCIII remap, stock throttle. I tried the G2 throttle, but it neutered the Duke too much.

Thanks.

Did read what I could on here about removal but mostly focused on the gains and not much on the lower end pick up etc. If I just wanted HP I would ride something else, it's the blunt shove from low / mid revs when snatching open the gass that sets the bike apart in my experience.

Guess I will find out for myself soon enough

Thanks Gin

I have used an ecu specialist with my ZZR who can map the function (action, rate of movement and scope of movement of the secondary's under various load and throttle situations) and he is absolutely certain that correctly set up they enhance a bikes performance, especially in the lower and mid range without detriment to the top end. The numbers for the ZZR are off the scale good and it pulls harder everywhere. He doesn't have any SD experience however and Projex seem to have the best rep judging by comments on this forum (they are also not too far from me) Kev at Projex insists its all upside from removal in his experience and he expects increased pull everywhere. I just thought it was worth throwing the question out there to see what the owner experience has been.

Most people seem happy with the decision to junk them so I'm going to take a leap of faith and do it. I will make sure the shaft holes are not permanently sealed so if I'm unhappy with the outcome I at least have the chance to reverse it (probably in reality I would just live with it but nice to have the option.

I'm not tempted by the RC8 stacks as everything I have seen suggests a small gain at max revs and a small loss lower down which is the opposite of what I'm looking to achieve.

Thanks for the help here and with the rear end swap.
