I see in my owners handbook 6mm of preload is recommended. Is it simply a case of loosening the pinch bolt on the adjusting collar & rotating until I have the 6 mm spacing between the adjusting collar & the top collar ? Cheers , John

That's how you set it, but you really need to set front & rear preload sag based on rider weight, not any "set" number.

All my pre-loads were done at a track day and the technician always got me to sit on the bike (fully kitted up ) and measure the static sag first. Not easy to do on your own but worth the time and trouble to get it right.
