She's a jumpy little thing...

So tell me this because I'ver heard different answers...

My 08 SD is still completely stock. I find it to be very "jumpy" in first and sometimes second gear. It seems very sensitive to any even very small throttle input. I even notice it when I go over a bumpy road. Honestly I don't like that...wish it were smoother.

I have heard that it's the mapping, and that the Arka map will cure that...but I also see a bunch of stuff on G2 throttle cams.

So what is the answer?

It is a combination of things that are causing this which as a single term can be named emission regulations.
When you eliminate the O2 sensors with the plug in resistors it fixes the problem for the biggest part.
Throwing the original exhaust in the bin helps as do removing the secondary butterflies and balancing both cylinders.
Akra map and PCIII solve some more and it's smooth riding after that. Different throttle cams helps also, but masks the problem more than fixing it by changing the ratio of throttle movement and butterfly opening.

On my bike the biggest difference was the O2 plugs. (08 model)
A V-twin is always a bit more twitchy but my previous bike (aprilia RSV) was cream compared to the SD new. The above mods fixed it.

OK - well I will have to either research what all that is or find someone competent in the SoCal area to help me out with some of those mods. I have seen threads on all of those mods so I will try to educate myself and decided what to do. Thanks for the info!
