Single exhaust ?'s

Hi, I pulled up a pic of an Akra single exhaust on a superduke, but I cant seem to find out any info on it! Does anyone make a set up like this? I'd have to think it would be both lighter and cheaper- is there something Im missing? Has anyone tried doing a low-buck fitting of something like a non-cat literbike silencer? Id love a set of full race pipes, but my budget lags behind my desire! Thanks! -c

Not on this side of the pond Mate! Just another thing we Yanks have screwed up, you know, like "aluminium".

Ooh, i know.
I once had an american first year chemistry student question why we used the metric system telling me that Fahrenheit and the use of feet and inches was just a more accurate way to measure things.

Needless to say she failed. Another tried to correct my pronunciation of aluminium.

At least you're using a metric unit, even if you still can't spell it.

The only thing I can think of that looks terrible witht he single exhaust is the emptiness of the rear of the bike, it just doesn't look balanced without the two pipes.

Noise would be a significant issue as well, there are two canisters for double the sounds reducing power. Not sure if the noise pollution nazis would like the increased dB output

Not sure if its the truth, but I was told by an old engineer that the reason we say/spell it out the way we do (al-LOO-min-um) was due to one of the first metalurgy textbooks having a misspelling long ago and it was repeated til it stuck. Good story anyway!

It does make sense. Nothing else is varied, just the spelling and pronunciation.

It'd be boring if we were all the same, there'd be far fewer people to take the piss out of.

Onthe exhaust issue, as much as I like the location of the pipes, the underslung exhaust just does something for me (ala buell, RC8, Duk3 etc).

Would love to see KTM go that way eventually. I wonder if it will ever happen.

Pipes are on my christmas list this year. Still not sure what to get.

I have a carbon Muzzy can for a 2006 ZX10 which I will fit next week. I don't think there is much involved besides tig welding some pipe. Reason why I do this besides that I want to be different... I want one of these Mivv Suono's but no dealer has them in New Zealand. Cheapest way is from the US. It takes two weeks for the seller to get them in and 3 weeks to NZ. By then it is Christmas New Year period which is summer holiday here so probably another few weeks on top of that.

I'll get on to the cutting and welding bit on Monday will post some pics and results later in the week. If it runs and sounds well I want to make a storage on the other side out of carbon tube so I have a place to store the puncture repair kit and some tools, as the PCIII is under the seat.
