Slipper Clutch, STM or Sigma?

Stupid Luke

Stupid Luke

I dont normally post in cos I am a technophobe and a thicko innit.

I always said I would buy an STM slipper for the SDR as they are pure bike porn. However, I wont even see it behind Motohooligans clutch protector

I always liked Neil Spalding on Eurospurt and Sigma are close to me. Until I rang him. Now I think he is an ignorant slap head and I dont want to put a pound in his pocket unless the Sigma is as good or better than the STM.

Anybody got either ? Better still anybody had both?

I will use HM Racing for STM or Steve Jordan for Sigma. Anybody get any good discount or have blackmail information on either place I can use to get the price down?

Dont bother to tell me to blip the throttle on downshifts I have managed that on my own for years but now the bling frenzy is upon me.

I've had both, but neither on a KTM.

STM on my 916 and Sigma on my 750 race bike.

the Sigma was like a standard 748R slipper in the fact it was 'graunchy' when pulling away. The STM was much better at getting off the line.

I don't know if it is still the case but back in the day the STM was a fair bit more money, but used more new components.

the Sigma used your old basket, plates and cover. the STM was all new bits.

out of the two, i'd have the STM

out of interest, Steve Jordan did the Sigma for less than Spalding would do it lol

Sigma on my 08 SDR - no complaints other than, as said, it can be 'graunchy' and grabby when pulling away if you get the clutch/throttle coordination wrong.

Sigma, know some people have had issues with the other, sigma is easier to fit yourself and to change the amount of slip just requires the changing of thickness of a plate.

Something of note, the Sigma requires you to remove the spacers from the inside of the clutch housing as such not sure if the MH cover would work with a slipper.........not seen a pic, but think someone on here had that issue....

i have a STM slipper on my 888, and yes it's sexy! especially as it can be seen!! it makes the std fare on the 748R seem rudimentary by comparison, the ramp angle is just right, and mine has had no issues with set up or use. and the plates have lasted twice as long as my mates 748R with his std set up which is a bucci i think?
sigma? dunno haven't used one, but i'm super happy with my STM.

Thanks Ronin but I think I will be a crash test dummy for STM.

If Sigma is 575 plus 120 fitting = 695 using old basket plus the sost of GSXR springs etc

The STM starts to look a bargain at 722.40. Especially when HM Racing offered 10% discount without being asked or free fitting (better still) for the complete breathtakingly beautiful unit and no graunchiness.

Even if I use your, or Pete's, influence and get 10% on the Sigma I think I would be happier paying the extra 60 quid for the STM.

Neil Spalding and Steve Jordan you can poke your Sigma's where the sun dont shine. That way you wont lock up your rectum next time you fart.

I'm trying to make up my mind on whether to buy a 2nd handr STM after the one in my Blade track slag failed a week after buying the bike or a 2nd hand Suter. The roller areas on the STM in both the backplate and drum are badly worn and scored so it's a right of. Both are about the same money. I bloody love my Suter in the SDR, works perfectly and the launch is seamless. However the Suter would be coming from the US, the STM from a guy on TDR.

Mines a Suter fitted with the strongest spring to give max engine braking and it's f#cking spectacular…..

i would definitely recommend it….
