Hi Guy's
Worked in the motorcycle industry for a while, ridden most thing's, so tend to be a bit of a cynic most of the time.
Test rode a Superduke a year ago and fell in love within a 100 yards, didn't really mind the snatchy low down throttle response on the stock bike, but during the last year have played around with the bike somewhat and tend to try thing's to prove them to myself and not just believe what I'm told, told you I was a cynic.
Here's my finding's in order i did thing's:
1st & 2nd gear derestriction on stock bike = bike a little smoother low down, but not a real big difference (worth doing, it's free !)
DNA airfilter install = better midrange roll on, more snatchy low down, nicer noise from the airbox.
Akra slipons with the above still done = storming midrange, lots of pops & bangs on overun, snatchy as hell low down.
Carried out ECU reset with the above mods = low down response smoothed out for three heat cycles (basically three journeys) then snatchy as hell again.
Had latest KTM map downloaded to the ECU with the above still in place also did an ECU reset at the same time = Smooooooooth drivabilty right off the bottom, holds 50mph in top on a constant throttle without any hunting, lovely, I'm in love all over again. Oh and the bike now sometimes stalls when not fully warmed up, but once warm no problems. I think the Akra map from KTM has certainly richened thing's up low down, also much less popping and banging on the overun
Oh one last thing, the stock Dunlops felt great until I fitted a pair of BT016's, on the stock tyre pressures these tyres are the best I've ever used, period. Great feed back at all lean angles and quick warm up. Buy them you'll love them.
Oh and one last thing, I work for a UK motorcycle company begining with T, they loved the SD on the training course I went on , but I had to hide the RC8 at work last week
Speaking to another chap at T we had a chat about the SD verses the Speed Triple and I said that T would have to put the Speed Triple 1050 engine in the 675 Street Triple chassis to get close
