spark plug wrench

Here (Kanada), from the dealer the KTM factory spark plug wrench costs over $80. ...and thats before tax...after tax its around $92....seems a bit much for a socket....Snap-On makes one that might fit for about $60. but harder to order...crazy prices...I guess I now have all winter to work this out...stick to my plan for grinding down a (free) regular size spark plug socket to see if it will fit...

Canadian dollar is worth approx. the same as the yank one..

Haven't got one in the KTM toolbag?! I had one for the KTM EXC, a socket-tool (pipe-wrench / tube-wrench) with the head for the plugs + the KTM can opener/other spanner fit the other side of the tool.
I have one pipe-wrench in the SD's toolbag but didn't try it so far..

Robinpeck, check this out:

http://cgi.ebay.ca/Suzuki-SV650-SV-650- ... 5d2be5d65e

the wrench in the kit is what i use for the plugs (wife's got an 01 sv650)
this one, with shipping is still a bit too much ( ~$80), on the other hand you get more than just the plug wrench

new kit is ~$50 before tax from local Suzuki dealer - if you have one close-by, it might be worth checking out...

also

this guys have it for $54 + $24 shipping...

i'm sure the wrench from some other bikes would work as well, but the SV one i know works, since i used it myself.

cheers!

Can someone give me the outside diameter measurement of their KTM (or Yamaha, or homemade..whatever one actually fits)) spark plug wrench?...or the inside emasurement of the hole in the valve cover/head that leads to the spark plug...I'm finally getting around to grinding down a standard spark plug socket to fit and I'm getting it close to as far as I dare go. My bike is in an unheated shed for the winter and its not taken apart...so I would appreciate knowing how far to grind the socket down...millimeters please? Thanks.
